Dear Parents and Carers,
It is incredible that we are already at the end of the Spring term and this is our last newsletter - time has certainly flown by!
Thank you to all those who were able to attend our Open Afternoon and Parent Forum last week and our Parents Evenings this week. It is always so lovely to share the children’s successes with you and to recognise the fantastic progress they have made.
I was thrilled, if unsurprised, when our SENDCO Mrs Dickinson gave me some fantastic feedback from the Devon County Council SEND Advisor who came and visited the school last week. He was looking at how the school environment supports learning for all children but in particular our children with SEND.
He noted the great rapport between pupils and staff and the calm and purposeful atmosphere of the school amongst other things, but what stood out to him was our wonderful Nursery. He felt that every area of the Nursery facilitated learning through play and noted that this was reflected in the displays, the independence and curiosity demonstrated by the children. No wonder our Nursery numbers have grown so fast! Many congratulations to Mrs Grabke and Mrs Atherton for their nurturing care and creative planning. Although filling up fast, we do still have places available for next term.
I am also delighted that our Breakfast Club and After School Club have become so busy! Mrs Kemp does a marvellous job of feeding and entertaining the children who extend their school day and I am so pleased that we are able to offer this support for working parents.
All our support staff need recognition for their hard work. Together with our teachers, they go above and beyond a normal work day and all our staff demonstrate that working in school is an absolute vocation. From starting work earlier than expected, going on residentials to weekend excursions practising for the Exmoor Challenge, I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their dedication to ensure your children get the best possible provision.
Have a wonderful Easter break. We look forward to welcoming you all back to school on Tuesday 22nd April.

Here are this week’s Times Table Rockstars, Superstars! We would like everyone to celebrate our top scorers and those who have made amazing efforts. All staff have been so impressed with children’s enthusiasm and determination to improve their times tables knowledge. If your child’s name is mentioned in the newsletter, then there is a 3 house point reward! Your child has a Times Table Rockstar login, which can be used at home too.
Good luck everyone!
Fieldmice and Hedgehog Class
have had a super 2 weeks continuing our learning through our traditional tales topic. We have been performing science experiments, testing different liquids to see which dissolved Gingerbread men the quickest. We also made houses out of different materials to see if they could withstand the wrath of the big bad Wolf. In maths we have been investigating doubles and odd and even numbers. We have been very lucky to have Squirrel class come up and help us log on to Numbots which we have enjoyed immensely.
Squirrel Class
have shown fantastic enthusiasm and determination as they continue to ‘Go for Gold’ on Numbots in our 10 minute daily sessions. We have enjoyed making and creating Mother’s Day and Easter recently, thinking carefully about the layout of a card and letter when we are writing and creating unique designs for our families. In maths we have continued to investigate the 2, 5 and 10 times tables through sharing quantities into equal groups and writing multiplication sentences. In literacy we wrote up our newspaper reports after reading Little Red. We were really impressed with the children’s catchy headlines and report writing in the past tense. In our final collective worship this term in the church we hope you enjoy a selection of our acrostic poems about Easter celebrations around the world.
Fox Class
In maths, we have been focusing on adding and subtracting lengths. If you have any opportunity, please encourage your children to recap adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers, as this will greatly support their understanding. In writing, we are experimenting with first-person narrative descriptions, fostering creativity and personal expression. In music, we have been exploring the song "Lean on Me," along with a selection of other gospel and soul songs, which has been enriching our musical experience.
Otter Class
Our research into the United Kingdom continued this week as we looked at
maps to investigate hills, mountains and valleys. We looked at the landscape topography of Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland and the areas that lie at or even below sea level. In French, we can now confidently ask for various varieties and types of ice cream! Maths has moved on from fractions to decimals, which everyone is enjoying. In English, we have been performing poetry to each other, learning how to review and improve our own and our friends’ performances. It has been a busy fortnight and we have enjoyed being outside in the sunshine whenever we can!
Stag Class
This week we have finished off our biography writing where we have picked our favourite astronauts and discovered lots of interesting things about their lives. This brings to a close our topic on space where we have explored many different aspects of our universe with some fantastic questions from Stag class along the way. Our attention in science is now shifting to evolution where we are learning about where we came from and how different organisms have adapted to their surroundings and the changing world around them.

Hedgehog
Livy in Hedgehog Class
Livy has been putting in lots of extra work, particularly in reading. This is having a really positive effect on both her reading and her overall confidence. Livy has also been very helpful and kind to younger children. Well done Livy!

Squirrels
Walter in Squirrel Class
For showing the character virtues of friendliness and courtesy. Walter could be our inspiring learner most weeks as he always works to the best of his ability and gives 100%. However, this week I want to recognise the fantastic qualities he has not just as a learner but as a member of Squirrel class. He is always polite and thoughtful, a great friend to others and helpful, all day, every day.

Foxes
Amelie in Fox Class
For showing the character virtues of motivation and determination. Amelie’s attitude towards maths has really improved, and it’s fantastic to see her getting stuck in. She’s fully embraced extra maths and is applying what she's learned in every lesson. Well done, Amelie! Your hard work and positive vibe make a real difference

Otters
Charlie in Otter Class
Charlie has shown excellent development in his listening skills as well as his concentration.
This has led to a huge improvement in the depth of his critical thinking, and also his success
in subjects that require a greater attention to detail. Keep it up Charlie!

Stags
Robyn in Stag Class
Robyn has been an absolute role model for younger children all year long and could always be a candidate for the inspiring learner. Robyn is very academically able due to the fantastic effort she puts into everything that she does: she is always taking on feedback and looking at how she can improve her next piece of work; she looks out for those around her, whether they are friends, classmates or younger students around the school; and she takes part in all activities with a smile on her face and is always thankful for the opportunities she is given.
Well done Everybody

The PTFA is made up of parents, carers, teachers, and friends of Bampton School with a shared interest in raising funds for equipment, resources, and activities to enhance the children’s learning experience.
We meet monthly to discuss how we as a school community can develop and improve school facilities and students’ opportunities, through planning fundraising events such as Bingo events, the Christmas Community Evening, Easter Extravaganza etc.
We welcome new and old members and are hoping for more support in the coming months.
If you can help in any way, or would like more information on the work we do then please contact bamptonptfa@gmail.com or look out for meeting dates on the school website, posters around the school or for notes in your child’s book bag.
